Daniel F. Ryan III

Daniel F. Ryan III was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his B.A. from Georgetown University in 1975 and his J.D. from Villanova Law School in 1978. Thereafter, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for Philadelphia County from 1978 through 1981.

Mr. Ryan is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Fellowship in the College is by invitation extended to the top one percent of trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill as advocates and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism and civility.

Mr. Ryan is also President of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates is by invitation extended to qualified trial attorneys whose careers have been characterized by demonstration of skill, integrity and experience in the special art of advocacy.

Mr. Ryan is an adjunct professor at the Villanova University School of Law teaching Trial Practice. The course develops skill in trial preparation, techniques and tactics.

A substantial portion of Mr. Ryan's practice is dedicated to the litigation of complex professional liability claims. He has served as liaison counsel for plastic surgeons in the silicone breast implant litigation, and as lead counsel for neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons in the orthopedic bone screw litigations. Mr. Ryan has tried hundreds of cases in Philadelphia and throughout Pennsylvania in state and federal courts. He has successfully defended hospitals and physicians of virtually every specialty in complex medical negligence litigation.

Mr. Ryan has lectured extensively on these issues, and has made presentations at judicial conferences and Grand Rounds at numerous hospitals. He has also addressed medical-legal issues in the print and broadcast media as well. In addition, Mr. Ryan's practice includes the defense of attorneys in legal malpractice actions, the litigation of complex commercial claims, and the mediation of a wide variety of major claims and disputes.

Mr. Ryan has been designated a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 by Super Lawyers Magazine, and a Top 100 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer from 2005-2010.

Mr. Ryan was also designated one of the top 10 lawyers in Pennsylvania for 2008 and 2009, by Philadelphia Magazine and Law and Politics magazine.
